The Kadagayaan Festival & Exposition 2010, Davao del Norte, is one of the highlights of the commemoration of the 43rd Founding Anniversary celebration of the Province of Davao del Norte. The four-day annual celebration embodies the culture and traditions of the Dabaonons through street dancing, lighted float parade, agri-trade fair and the Kalimudan tribal celebration.

The Kadagayaan Festival starts with the Indigenous Peoples & Immigrants thanksgiving rituals at the Kalimudan sa Davao del Norte (cultural village), on 28 June: the indigenous Ata-Manobo tribe shall bless the success of the Kadagayaan Festival & Exposition with celebration and merry–making; and, the Muslim K’gan tribe offer their cultural and traditional performances.

The Kalimudan promotes the culture and tourism potential of the province and focuses on “Celebrating the Singularity of Our Shared Homeland – Embracing Diverse Cultures of Unified Visions”. This activity also marks the opening of the week-long Agri-Tourism Trade Fair at the capitol grounds in Tagum City, where agricultural products and one-town-one-product (OTOP) items are on sale.

Dovetailing with the official Foundation Day program on 30th June is the Parada Dabaonon, a street dancing parade of Davao del Norte’s major festivals and celebration, which will be presented on the major streets of Tagum City to the Capital Grounds. The Parada Dabaonon culminates with a competition and extravagant showdown & space performance.

At dusk on 30th June, the fun and excitement continues as decorated carnival floats, adorned with lights, fruits, and ornaments will showcase each Local Government Units’ (LGUs’) best practices in support of the 43rd Araw ng Davao del Norte theme: “Davao del Norte Growing Outward, Reaping”. The Lighted Float Parade shall take center stage along the main thoroughfares of Tagum City to the Capitol Grounds, where the audience will be entertained with a musical fireworks display.

All Kadagayaan Festival & Exposition activities are supported by the component LGUs: Panabo City, Tagum City & the Island Garden City of Samal, plus the municipalities of Carmen, Sto Tomas, Braulio E. Dujali, San Isidro, Kapalong, Asuncion, Talaingod and New Corella.

Tagum City is about a 45-minute taxi ride (approx Php800) from Davao International Airport or about one-hour by air-conditioned bus (approx Php80); both services can be found outside the Davao International Airport main gate.
