West Pacific Hobie Championships (19-22 February, 2010) in Boracay, Philippines. Boracay has been the venue for Philippine Hobie Challenge events in 2000, 2006 and 2009 over the years, and since 2001 the annual Hobie 16 Boracay Cup has been held in the clear windy waters off Boracay.

Boracay is the ideal location for Hobie racing. In February the predominant Amihan (northeast monsoon) provides good winds and calm waters inside the reef, for a first class, safe racing environment. Being so close the famous powder-soft white sand of Boracay Beach it is also a fantastic place for photographers and casual spectators.

Taking part in the competition will be Hobie 16s and Hobie Tigers; the Tigers will be shipped in especially for the event from Hong Kong and Pattaya, Thailand.

The West Pacific Championships will include classes for: The Open Class, Philippine National Championship, Masters (over 45), Grand Masters (over 55), Youth (under 21) and Ladies. (subject to entry levels) Boats will be available for charter.

One of the great attractions of this year’s West Pacific Hobie Championships is that competitors can stay on and participate in the Boracay Cup. The Boracay Cup was an event originally designed for keelboats and Ocean Multi-hulls but this will be the first time beach catamarans will be invited to join in the fun in Boracay.

Come to Boracay for the West Pacific Hobie Championships in February and enjoy the best in sailing, action photography, sun and off-water entertainment.
