How to Jump Off A Boat: I am frequently asked whether it is important to be able to swim before you choose to go sailing, my reply is always the same, "it’s not so important, the idea is to stay on the boat . . . boating is a safe sport". However, there are alternate philosophies.

And so, when I received this video from a game fishing friend of mine I was not surprised to learn that one of his shipmates had formulated such an alternate philosophy, and wanted to demonstrate it to the World. The alternate philosophy is: to jump off a boat is fun, so long as the skipper is a friend.

The video was taken near the beautiful beaches of Club Paradise island resort, in northern Palawan, from an Asiacraft / Technautique Offshore 190, equipped with a 200hp Mercury outboard, travelling at a speed of 25 knots (about 50 kmph; at the beginning of the video the boat is cruising at close to 40 knots). The man who decided to jump off a boat is an ethanol trader.

One observer quipped that perhaps he had been imbibing too much of his own product before he sold it, another noticed the San Miguel Pale Pilsen and San Miguel Light in hand and suggested that San Miguel Corporation may be required to add new warnings to their labels.

N.B. In publishing this story we are required to inform you that neither San Miguel Corporation nor Asiacraft / Technautique nor Mercury Outboards nor Club Paradise island resort nor northern Palawan nor GetWet Philippines nor any company or individual associated with any of these enterprises or entities condone or encourage anyone to jump of a boat in the manner portrayed in this video; jump off a boat at your own risk, for your own enjoyment and don’t blame the beer.

Boating is a safe sport.
