UPDATED 05/07/2009

Kiteboarding and windsurfing weather forecasts have been available from windguru.com for some years now and the weather forecast locations are well established, so when windguru.com ads a new weather forecast location for kiteboarding and windsurfing we are compelled to investigate. Last week, windguru.com added the new kiteboarding and windsurfing weather forecast location of Bulalacao at the South of Oriental Mindoro – just one week following the installation of an IP camera/webcam showing Tabuk Beach, Bulalacao Bay (where this photograph was taken in April this year).

Bulalacao offers good wind during the northeast monsoon and offers even more during periods of the southwest monsoon, so it is an ideal kiteboarding and windsurfing destination for all-year-round water sports.

How To Get To Bulalacao

A new air conditioned bus service is now running from Cubao, Metro Manila, to Bulalacao, twice-daily direct. The bus service is offered by Dimple Star bus company and leaves Cubao at 6.00am and 6.00pm. Price Php700 one way (plus terminal fee at Batangas port – currently Php35). Travel time 9-10 hours depending on the ferry schedule and state of the roads.

As we enter the rainy season, the best answer to the How To Get To Bulalacao from Manila questions is: drive South to Batangas, take the ro-ro to Calapan and then drive South past Roxas City until you get to the bottom of Mindoro; or, you can fly into San Jose airport, Occidental Mindoro, and gamble on the state of the 45km of road to Bulalacao – not always good during the rainy season.

How To Get To Bulalacao from Caticlan / Boracay: travel by ro-ro from Caticlan / Boracay to Roxas City (Mindoro) and then drive South to the bottom of the island; or, you could take a boat direct from Boracay Beach – a two hour trip North, to Bulalacao.

It is VERY important to note that, from December, a newly concreted road will connect Roxas-Bulalacao-San Jose, making Bulalacao just a 45-minute taxi ride from San Jose airport. There are currently four flights a day, from three different airlines, arriving in San Jose airport (Occ. Mindoro) from Manila NAIA Terminal 3.

What To Bring To Bulalacao

Also important is that, for the next few months at least, you will need to bring your own kiteboarding and windsurfing equipment because there are no kites or boards currently stationed in Bulalacao. If you want to know more then write to us at GetWet-Philippines and we can give you the whole nine yards on who to contact, where to go, where to stay and where to dine.
