The 2009 Wakeboard World Series leaps into action in Camarines Sur, Philippines, on 25th through 29th March. The 2009 WWA Wake Park Worlds in Camarines Sur, is the first of five international championship events organised each year by the World Wakeboard Association (WWA). The other venues are in: Orlando, Florida, U.S.A., in June; Bourg en Bresse, France, at the beginning of August; Kiev, Ukraine, in the middle of August; and, Hamburg, Germany at the end of August.

The venue for the 2009 WWA Wake Park Worlds is the CamSur Watersports Complex (CWC), about 5 minutes ride from Naga City Airport at Pili.

Two methods of wakeboarding will be featured during the 2009 WWA Wake Park Worlds, wakeboarders will be: pulled behind a speed boat; or, be towed by overhead cable-ways. The CamSur Rider’s Cup will kick off the World Series behind the boat, with the world’s top riders competing for a chance to become the WWA Wakeboard World Series champion at the end of the season. Since the completion of the CWC Rail Park, the five-day event will also include one of the most highly anticipated contests behind the revolutionary Sesitec System 2.0 with three professional and three amateur divisions.

Overall there are 24 championship categories in the competition: for men and women, and for amateurs through to professionals. So if you have a little experience of wakeboarding then go and get wet in Camarines Sur and you might win a trophy or, if you want to watch the professionals demonstrate the craft so that you can pick up some tips, then that’s OK too. There will not be any underwater photography opportunities (unless you fall in) but for action photography the 2009 WWA Wake Park Worlds in Camarines Sur will provide some exciting new angles and an enlightening experience.

You will want to know how to fly to Naga City, Camarines Sur, because the air conditioned bus ride from Manila is a long, eight hours. Flying to Naga City is easy, with both Cebu Pacific Air and Philippine Airlines flying the route from Manila International Airport (NAIA; IATA code MNL). If the flights to Naga City are all full you can alternatively fly to Camarines Sur by taking a flight to Legaspi City; Legaspi City is about one hour driving from Naga City and the CamSur Watersports Complex.
