The Deca Wakeboarding Park Davao is open for business. While traveling South from downtown Davao City to the Philippine Eagle Foundation, we visited the town of Mintal to see how far the Deca Wakeboarding Park had progressed since August 2009.

The facility is operational and, according to the Deca Wakeboarding Park’s Sales & Marketing Manager, Ms. Kisses Rañeses, people have been enjoying the wakeboarding in Mintal since 16th December. In fact they are queuing up to go wakeboarding every day. Kisses said that the Deca Wakeboarding Park will be the venue for the Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup Finals 2010 and the Asian wakeboarding championship, 18th – 21st November, 2010.

From 1st April the wakeboarding rates at the Deca Wakeboarding Park will be Php1,100 for a full day or Php850 for a half day, per person inclusive of lunch. Special rates can be negotiated for large groups. Opening hours are from 08:30 to 17:30 with a one hour break for lunch.

When asked why the publicity machine had not been activated yet for the Deca Wakeboarding Park? Kisses said that the major publicity launch will take place around the time of the Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup Finals. Kisses went on to explain that the restaurant and accommodation facilities are not yet completed but will be by November.

The Deca Wakeboarding Park employs state-of-the-art overhead cable systems to take wakeboarding enthusiasts around the purpose-built lake at competition speed. Ramps and slides have been installed within the lake to be actively used by the more acrobatic wakeboarders.

The Deca Wakebaording Park is partnered by Batangas-based Stocked Inc. and owned by Atty. Lowell Yu. Starting in April, 2010, Stocked Inc. plan to hold wakeboarding clinics at the Deca Wakeboarding Park to train people how to wakeboard.

How To Get To The Deca Wakeboarding Park

The best way to get to the Deca Wakeboarding Park is to take a taxi from Davao City (about 30-minutes) – there are no organized transport services to the wakeboarding park specifically. Taxi fares are about Php200 from downtown Davao City or about Php300 from Davao International Airport. If you instead take an air-conditioned bus along the Davao-Bukidnon National Highway (bound for Calinan, Bukidnon or Cagayan de Oro), alight in Mintal town and take a tricycle (about five minutes). There is also a minibus service “All Aboard” from Bankerohan Market in Davao City that passes through Mintal.

For those who have been writing to us asking about the Clark wakeboarding park in Pampanga, Kisses confirmed that the Clark wakeboarding facility will also be open within 2010, offering a similar purpose-built lake and with the same partners.
