Through the intervention of Congressman Ricky Sandoval, the head of MARINA this morning confirmed that the proposed Memorandum Circular (distributed on 10th May, 2016), that aimed to regulate private Yachts and Other Pleasure Craft, will not be pursued in its present form. However, in the interests of on-water safety and security, proposals will be accepted for consideration by MARINA under the new administration.

Next year, Negros Island could be home to the first biennial electric vehicle road rally in Asia (if you exclude the famous World Solar Challenge in Australia). Why Negros? Because all of its power comes from renewable sources and is virtually free.

Negros derives its electricity from geothermal sources, deep beneath its rainforested interior. Thanks to initiatives of the previous administration, in the funding of modern road infrastructure, Negros also has some of the most underutilized roads in the Philippines. This unique combination of almost free electricity and underutilized roads has inadvertently created the ideal conditions and location for the World's first electric vehicle road rally. And in my opinion there are few better places to showcase environmentally friendly road vehicles than on an island where there is no pollution from coal, oil or gas powered electricity generating plants.

The next leg of the National Drag Racing Championship will be held at Clark Field, Angeles City, Pampanga, on 22nd August. The exact location is behind the Clark Expo on the North side of the former Clark Air Force Base. This particular race session should determine the Philippine National Drag Racing Champion for 2009.

For such a high-octane motor sport it is interesting that a relatively low-octane product, San Mig Coffee, sponsors National Drag Racing Championship. But sponsor it they do, along side (more appropriately) Yokohama and Aerome
