The Commodore’s Cup (5th - 6th December) at Caliraya Lake, Cavinti/Lumban, Laguna, is organised by the Philippine Windsurfing Association and brings the best windsurfing and kiteboarding practitioners from around the Philippines and across Asia together for the final event of the 2009 Philippine Windsurfing Series. The Commodore’s Cup event is open to all national and international windsurfing and kiteboarding enthusiasts.

The Commodore’s Cup is an annual event designed to close out the Philippine Windsurfing Series racing season, that this year started in Puerto Galera way back in February. At Caliraya Lake the 2009 Philippine windsurfing and kiteboarding champions will be crowned.

Kiteboarding and windsurfing weather forecasts have been available from windguru.com for some years now and the weather forecast locations are well established, so when windguru.com ads a new weather forecast location for kiteboarding and windsurfing we are compelled to investigate. Last week, windguru.com added the new kiteboarding and windsurfing weather forecast location of Bulalacao at the South of Oriental Mindoro - just one week following the installation of an IP camera/webcam showing Tabuk Beach, Bulalacao Bay (where this photograph was taken in April this year).

Windsurfing and kiteboarding competition is natural in Subic bay, with on-shore breezes for much of the year, with only modest waves. Every summer Subic Bay hosts the largest gathering of windsurfing and kiteboarding enthusiasts for the middle-of-season competition in Subic Bay, part of the Philippine Windsurfing Association (“PWA”) 2009 Philippines Windsurfing Series. The event attracts international windsurfing and kiteboarding enthusiasts from around the World, including: Hawaii, North America, Fiji, Germany, Hong Kong, Singapore and the United Kingdom.

From 18-19th July 2009, the Francisco Cup Wind and Kite Blow Out 2009 promises to be bigger and better than 2008, when almost 100 boards enthusiasts descended on Subic Bay to enjoy

Boracay Island is going through some growing pains as it competes with the other top ten best tropical destinations in the World for the best beach awards supremacy. One of the largest issues is the treatment of sewage: with so many people visiting such a small island it is a challenge.

Caliraya Lake Windsurfing Commodore’s Cup

Photo by Jijo de Guzman - Caliraya Lake, Laguna province, “just past Pagsanhan Falls” was the venue last weekend for the last of five legs in the national windsurfing championship season of 2008. The Caliraya Lake Commodore’s Cup attracted both Filipino and international windsurfing participants; breezes of 25 to 30 knots across the lake ensured some fantastic competition and super-fast action.

The windsurfing season kicks off next year in Boracay. Between the 11th to 17th of January, 2009, you need to be at Bulabog Beach, Boracay Island, where the 21st International Fun Board Cup is almost guaranteed to surprise in the extreme. Concurrent with the windsurfing there is also a
