STOP PRESS
Through the intervention of Congressman Ricky Sandoval, the head of MARINA this morning confirmed that the proposed Memorandum Circular (distributed on 10th May, 2016), that aimed to regulate private Yachts and Other Pleasure Craft, will not be pursued in its present form. However, in the interests of on-water safety and security, proposals will be accepted for consideration by MARINA under the new administration.

It has been a while since I last visited Deca Wakeboard Park in Davao. I usually go for a specific reason, this time at the behest of Luda Horfilla, one of the participants of the 7th Philippine National Wakeboard competition on 24th 25th August, 2013, at Republ1c Wakepark in Nuvali, Calamba, Laguna, invited me to nose around the riders practice session.

The beautiful Pandanon Island will be the venue for Bohol Wakefest 2012 – a month long wakeboarding and wakeskating festival for everyone interested to get into the sport of boarding in the Philippines. Bohol Wakefest 2012 also includes a two–day Wake Jam. The Wake Jam is where invited, top–class wakeboarders and wakeskaters, from all over Asia and the Philippines, will be demonstrating their skills and performing some astonishing tricks, for the entertainment of spectators and to motivate local enthusiasts to excel.
The Bohol Wakefest 2012 is enabled by a new, straight–line wakeboard cable system (Sesitec System 2.0), which is a mobile wakeboard and wakeskate facility that could be located across almost any short stretch of river, lake or bay.

The first organized Deep Water Soloing (DWS) venue in Busuanga was climbed this week. Teddy Aquino, the owner of Juju Island (about 20 minutes by speed-boat from Coron town), invited a group of climbing friends from overseas to join him in exploring the craggy limestone cliffs and walls of Sangat Island (and similar islands in the Calamianes Islands Group), for the purpose of identifying the best locations for Deep Water Soloing in the Philippines.
What is Deep Water Soloing? It is essentially rock-climbing with the objective of an eventual rapid descent into deep water. The word "soloing" is included because you are not tied to any other climbers in your ascent and you jump into the deep water at the moment that you decide is right, without reference to other climbers who may be ascending at the same time as you.

The Deca Wakeboarding Park Davao is open for business. While traveling South from downtown Davao City to the Philippine Eagle Foundation, we visited the town of Mintal to see how far the Deca Wakeboarding Park had progressed since August 2009.
The facility is operational and, according to the Deca Wakeboarding Park's Sales & Marketing Manager, Ms. Kisses Rañeses, people have been enjoying the wakeboarding in Mintal since 16th December. In fact they are queuing up to go wakeboarding every day. Kisses said that the Deca Wakeboarding Park will be the venue for the Waterski and Wakeboard World Cup Finals 2010 and the Asian wakeboarding championship, 18th - 21st November, 2010.
